Wedding First Dance Lessons in London

Your first dance is the moment everyone in the room is watching. Whether you want a simple, elegant waltz or something that genuinely stops the show, we’ll teach you exactly what you need — at your pace, in your own time, with no pressure.

Dance Amore is a dance studio in Paddington, central London. Our wedding dance lessons are taught by Simone Arena, a Dancing with the Stars professional, and his team of world-class instructors. You don’t need any dance experience. Most of our couples have never danced together before their first lesson.

No Experience Needed

More than 80% of the couples who come to us have never taken a dance lesson in their lives. That’s completely normal — in fact, it’s easier to teach people who haven’t picked up bad habits. Within a few lessons, you’ll be moving together with confidence.

How Many Lessons Do You Need?

Most couples take between 5 and 8 lessons depending on how comfortable they want to feel on the day. Here’s a rough guide:

• 3 lessons — enough to learn the basics of your chosen style but not a routine.
• 5 lessons — enough to feel relaxed and natural, with a clear routine with beginning, middle and end to your dance.
• 8–10 lessons — for couples who want choreography, a more refined routine, or a more show-stopping routine.

We recommend starting at least 8 weeks before the wedding. That gives you enough time to practise between lessons without feeling rushed.

Choosing Your Song

You can bring any song you want — we’ll make it work. Ballads, pop, jazz, something up-tempo — we’ve choreographed to all of it. If you’re not sure yet, we’re happy to suggest songs that suit your style and the mood you’re going for.

What We Teach

For wedding dances we most commonly teach the Waltz, Foxtrot, Salsa, Bachata, Argentine Tango, and Swing. We’ll discuss what fits your song and your personalities, and design the routine around you.

Our studio is in Paddington, a 2-minute walk from Paddington tube station (Bakerloo, Circle, District, and Elizabeth lines). Address: 1 Chilworth Mews, London W2 3RG. We can also come to your home or venue if you prefer — just mention it when you enquire. (this option has a more limited availability of time)

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we both need to come to every lesson?
Yes — for a wedding dance, both of you need to be there. The whole point is learning how to move together.

What if we have two left feet?
Everyone says that. We’ve never met anyone who genuinely couldn’t learn a basic routine with a bit of practice. The first lesson will prove it to you.

Can we learn more than one style?
Yes. Some couples like to start with a classic waltz and then surprise their guests with a quick change to something more fun. We can build that into your package.

What should we wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in. For shoes, anything with a smooth sole is better than thick rubber soles — but don’t buy anything new just for lessons.

How far in advance should we book?
As soon as you have a wedding date. We get busiest in spring and summer, and popular time slots fill up quickly.

Do you offer lessons at our venue?
Yes, we can travel to your home or venue. Just let us know when you get in touch and we’ll confirm availability.
